As much as I like my close up shots of the cranes and geese, I think I actually prefer those images that show more of the surroundings. The Bosque can be a beautful setting for images at this time of year.

Excellant image, I like the wings in the same positions.

Neil. I like how tack sharp the birds are against the BG. Nice shot.

Cool flight shot. Just the right amount of environment to tell their story. :)

I agree with you... the envronmental shots are more appealing to me as well. This is very nice... a good mix of sharp bird and BG. Too bad there isn't just a hair more space between the front bird's right wing and the back bird's head. This is just a nit ... an awesome shot.

Neil,

Excellent shot. The formation is very nice and the environment adds much to the image.

A beautiful, well composed image. Was this taken from one of the decks? Chupadera maybe? I tried something like this but the birds did not cooperate. Well done.

Mike,

I was set up to the right of the deck that faces north across the corn fields. The cranes were flying along a line of trees and brush growing along a north-south running irrigation ditch to the right of the corn field. Incidently, this put the setting sun directly over my right shoulder. One of the few times I was actually able to set up this way.
