Black-bellied Plover Pluvialis squatarola
La Jolla 10-29-05

Found a group of roosting shorebirds and was able to crawl up close to this BBPl. I can't usually get close to this species but Sat. was different. :D Cropped 15%, lying on belly with tripod legs flat out.

Lovely Mike

I really like the gradient in the blue BG.

Cheers

Peter

PS: I see a slight halo in front of the breast in the darkest part of the blue.

What a great portrait. Detail and colors are perfect. Shots like these make me long to be surrounded by them.....even if it is laying in the muck!!!

Killer shot, Mike. Great detail and it is so difficult to get the blue background there on the shelfs. The birds do not usually look as good against the sandstone. :)

Great Portrait Mike. It's hard work crawling with spread tripod legs so Kudo's for the effort, it paid off handsomely!
