Same bird a few minutes earlier than the first image I posted a few days ago. He did his resting duck impression for a few minutes after he did his soak in the first image, and then stood up and walked back into the shade on shore to preen and relax. The apparently tilted water in the first image was due to the breeze making riffles on the water. In this shot the breeze had changed direction and dropped off in strength.

Too funny! I've seen them stand in the water like your first image but have never seen them do this! Love the pose and he looks great in this water.

This is one funny, young bird. In the first posting he was not standing, he was sitting! When he stood up to move the water did not even reach the feathers on his upper legs. He moved forward and then took this duck pose for a couple of minutes, then ruffled his feathers and ducked his head a couple of times, and stood up and walked back to shore. I think he even quacked a couple of times... maybe.

Woody, I think this is the elusive Mega Loon. Did he dance?
