Taken yesterday evening in the backyard with fairly low light. Guessing it is a 1st year female (per Sibley). She was induced to leave the cover of the nearby forest by the water sprinkler.

Nice clean warbler shot Steve.

I respectfully think it might be a Nashville rather than a Yellow.

Gerald, thanks for the ID suggestion. It certainly looks like the Nashville warbler shown in Sibley. My ID guess was based on a warbler that I photographed on the same perch a few days earlier. He was bright yellow including the head. I assumed that they were a pair.

Excellent shot Steve! :) :) Great composition and full frame! I would suggest working on the distracting bright areas on the left part of the perch.

Sweet shot with lots of detail of this little bird. I agree with the Nashville ID. The bird shows beautifully against the dark background. I agree with Ofer's suggestion for a bit of darkening of the left end of the perch. Love it!

Agree that some PS works on the bright perch would take this shot up another notch ...
Nicely done, Steve!

Definitely a Nashville warbler and a great shot with wonderful eye contact, nice background and catchlight. I would agree about the perch. I think you could burn in the left a bit and also burn in some of the hotter highlights across the perch. Awesome detail in the plumage here.

Congrats for getting an almost textbook perfect side shot of this warbler. Sharpness is excellent for 1/100s and 1000mm! (Although on my monitor I see a bit less sharpness about the front facial feathers; maybe another small touch of selective sharpening there?) The exposure on the bird itself is bang on, against a very pleasing background. In all, a very effective shot.
