This was taken at the National Aviary here in Pittsburgh in their "wetlands" room. The place is a wonderful place but the best for photography as you are never shootiing with the sun but at best a sideways sun. due to the layout of the room. Nice backgrounds are also difficult, but on the flip side there are of course a lot of birds present and in the cold winters here it is especially nice.

The light on the head seemed especially nice to me on this one.
All comments and critiques welcome.

The head is very nice but the rest is a bit dark. You might try bringing up the shadow area a bit (S/H, etc.). The BG is pretty nicely OOF but the body is too dark.

Jim Brian gave you some excellent advice Would also suggest to crop some from left since the leaves are not doing much!!

I do shoot in aviaries locally and the only time I do well is on overcast days and using fill flash on manual !!! Most of the little guys will be at a set distance so controlling the exp/flash is easy !!! Love the pose and perch placement !!!! 8) 8)

Looks outdoors to me. Agree on some fill flash. Beautiful looking bird.

Great looking bird. I'd prefer a bit more room on the right.

It doesn't look too dark on my monitor and I will leave the leaves as they add to the image IMO. Nice shot and the head is just stunning! :)
