The lilac brestetd roller is to me one of the colorfullest birds that I've got seen in Kenya.

Picture was taken from a jeep in the masai mara national park

Fujifilm S2 Pro, Nikon AF VR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED @400mm, f/5.6, 1/1000s, ISO160

around 33% of original image

What do you think about it?
Regards Christoph

It's a lovely shot Christophe, though the colours are so vivid you'd swear that it was a fake :D Amazing birds can be this colourful. It's nice and sharp too considering its only 33% of the original image.

The branches are possibly a bit busy, but they don't detract from the image that much for me.

Nice shot.

I like the habitat - it's a bit busy but very natural looking and not distracting to me. The bird is so well lit and sharp, love the head turn.

IT is beautiful and colorful. It might have worked well with a 1.5x TC and not needed as severe a crop. Those 80-400 VR lenses are pretty sharp and the crop held well.

This has got to be my favorite bird I've never seen -- what a colorful beauty and well captured here.

Christoph,
Well done. Exposure spot one and good comp from cropped version. The OOF background a bit distracting for me. The branches and leaves in "middle ground" does not distract at much.
