(Black Skimmer) Stone Harbor, New Jersey

I decided to take another early morning trip down to Stone Harbor based on the weather forecast and the fact that Monday is a Holiday. (Less traffic on the way home.) This was taken at 6:45 am as the sun was just peaking over the horizon. This little guy ran toward us as the adults took flight in mass. It eventually hunkered down by some drift wood and then headed back toward the adults when they all landed.

Tripod Mounted Nikon D2X, 600 AFS, 600mm, ISO 400, Manual, 1/320 @ F4, SB-800, BB, EV -1 2/3. Cropped from Horizontal. About 90% of full height.

Extreme close up very interesting. The bright spot above the head is a bit distracting. Congrats on your 4000th, I don't think theres very many that are that high. :)

Tony,
Congrats on the 4000th post.
Even with a EV -1 2/3 there is that bright white on the upper chest/shoulder, that matches my own experience with the D2X and 600mm.
Like the extreme close-up.

Wow! Talk about "in my face :D " full frame! Very original and creative. Must have been tough getting the focus as he approached you so closely. Bravo. Great image. :)

I really like the motion blur in the legs Tony. The hotspot on his breast and above his head are a bit distracting.

Congrats on 4k man!
