I went out that morning for covered bridges but found this deep in the woods of northwestern Vermont. This was literally the first few months I owned my F5.

The scanner is not set up so I can't do a rescan right now, but I did want to post the image from an old scan because it fits the motif. But even on the slide there are some highlights blown - but I've always liked the way it leads up the steps regardless.

Nikon F5, Sigma 50-500mm, Bogen 3221 tripod, Provia 100F.

Image comments/critiques sincerely appreciated!

I think it's a nice calm moody shot. The highlights on the steps do not detract.

I can see what you liked about the beams of light on the steps - they really do add nicely to the image. Nicely seen and captured.

This looks like a really cool place to explore Heather. As mentioned, those light spots on the steps make this a very inviting image. I wouldn't even call them blown highlights, just strategically timed and placed accents to lure the viewer up these old stairs to explore!
