Another shot from the Singapore zoo of a "tamed" bird. Wish the rocks would not have been behind him.

The rock is rather distracting. Maybe turnign down the ambient and throwing some flash on it would help.

Thanks for the comments. I could try burning in the rock in some...or is it dodging to make it darker??

Nice pose Keith. It could go a bit brighter, and I do wish the BG was more uniform.

The rock is a bit distracting, but I think it could have still worked by flash as main to control the BG and bring out the eye of the heron. I lose my connection with the subject due to the eye being in the shadow. :(

I'd accommodate the rock in the bg but would suggest cropping from atop leaving just enough room for the bird's head.

KK, you mean to crop way down so that most of the rocks are no longer in the pic? I've played a little with burning the rocks, but do not like the looks I"m getting.
