This was taken at La Jolla Cove while out photographing with Mike Wilson.

Canon 1D mk2 500mm f4 1.4x, Tripod, Manual expsure 1250 @ 5.6 Iso 250, Auto focus.

Jimmy, how are you identifying this as a Brandt's rather than Double-crested which is more common there? Nice shot.

This one is so good Jimmy. The seaweed as nest material is great but the shiny sheen on the body and that eye! We had fun that afternoon shooting anything that flew by. EJ, I'm sure this is a Brandt's Cormorant, they were the most numerous there and some Double-crested and several Pelagic too. Pretty common this time of year at the cliffs.

Fantastic shot, Jimmy; the twirl of nesting material balances the composition nicely. I wouldn't mind a little more room on the left side.

EJ the blue eye and the blueish green sheen are a dead give away for a brants.
