Gambel's Quail
Image
This quail, while not a lot different in color during breeding season is doing what male Gambel's do this time of year. He is perched on top of this bush calling out for the love of his life. It is typical behavior for this bird as he seeks to find a mate. This was taken a Bosque del Apache, NWR, NM.

Good job getting him up off the ground. I would go a bit darker.

Nice job getting one of these clear! It took me forever to figure out what was making those strange noise while I was wandering around the desert  Could be a tad more contrast on my monitor.

Cool.
I have seen these runnin' on the ground or in flight before, but never on a perch before. Very cool.
