NANPA SD Summit.

This deer took off across the field and towards the press area after being spooked by a few hundred bison, pick-up trucks and cowboys. I have never, ever seen a deer run this fast. Having the exposure locked manually in the camera prior to this event was paramount to this image success.

1D, 500mm w/ 1.4X

Best and see you in the field,

Holy excrement! This is awesome!
I've had a few young mulies run past me (probably half this speed) and my poor 10D AF never had a chance :)

Excellent shot with great action and the animals expression is cool too. I think I would prefer this a third stop darker.

Hey Chas,

Excellent image. I'm with E.J. on the exposure, but other than that, this is a very good image .. probably one of my favorites of your work.

Cheers

Carl

Hey! I KNOW this guy!! This animal sprouted wings but I like this photo for the outstretched legs. I have the same shot but almost every one of mine has the legs in a different position rather than outstretched. I like your catch much better and will post one for comparison.

Chas, Wow! Great timing to get this guy mid-stride with an open-mouth and eyes looking about ready to pop out of his head.
