This is actually a story about a merlin and marsh hawk I saw hunting "together" the other day. I spotted a merlin on sunday chasing, or what I thought was chasing a marsh hawk. It turns out the merlin was using the marsh hawk as a flusher and was following it closely waiting for some small bird to flush. This went on for 20 minutes before I finally saw the merlin catch a small bird the marsh hawk scared up. I got an image of the merlin with a small bird but it was so far off it wasn't worth posting. I got this image of another marsh hawk on the same afternoon. It must have just missed catching something and came up was grass only....Canon D20, 600mm, + 1 exp comp, iso 400, thanks for looking.

This piece of grass suggests that the hawk was converted to vegetarianism
Great shot, Nick!

Hi,

great story and image. They may be starting to nest-- I have a bunch here with grass in their feet. The head turn is awinner.
4 down, 2 to go.
