This is one of a series of 50+ shots I took of this guy in a snowy corner of Sax-Zim that is a bit more out of the way than some of the places people have shot owls. I just loved the snow-covered pine trees as a background to this splendid owl.

Canonm Eos20D + 400mm f/5.6L @ f/5.6. 1/200th, Fill -2/3, ISO 400.

The BG sets this one apart. I also like the fact that his perch is best over from his weight. Beautiful shot.

I'm always amazed at how small a perch these guys will land on. Nice shot Chris.

Nice one, Chris! I also got some shots with one in a tree like this with a similar BG. These birds are great subjects!

Chris,

This is a nice shot. The snow coverd pine trees are very nice. My preference would have been to gotten this shot with both eyes.

Thanks,

Even though these are spruce and hemlocks they still make a great perch and background. It is nice to see a side view for a change. Nice one, Chris.

Chris,

Very pretty and that perch really reflects the weight of the owl.
