Taken last week in Monterey, California in the rain from the car window. Probably should have use a higher F-stop and possibly some fill flash.

The steely background really makes this white gull pop. Yeah a little more DOF would be nice but most of the head and bill are sharp so it's not a major nit for me.

I agree with your self critique although this is still a fine image as is. This guy really pops with that background. Good work.
