There have been plenty of adult Brown Pelicans in breeding plumage flying about the cliffs in La Jolla. At least that was the case before the rains came. If the rains ever stop  I'll go back and check out the situation again.

Nice one Neil. I would clone out the white spots on the left of the frame.

The white spots are actually water droplets falling from the tail feathers. But if they are not recognizable as such and add nothing to the image, then I would probably agree about their removal.

This is a cool shot Neil. On my monitor the light areas look a little washed out. I wonder what would have happened if you had underexposed the ambient just a tiny bit more. I wonder if it would have given this more punch? I'm far from an expert on fill flash so its just a hunch. Composition and wing position are particularly nice on this one.

Nice one Neil. i like the gray water. At this size the droplets add nothing for me and could be mistaken for something else  .

Very nice given the grey conditions you had. Looks like the rains are about over for a few days. I'm heading down there very soon!!

A very nice one, Neil!
The color is rather muted due to heavy overcasted weather?!
