Not my favorite sky by any means but overcast was the order of the day when I was at the Sax-Zim Bog area in MN at Christmas.

D70, 600mm f/4 & 1.4xTC, beanbag, ISO 400, 1/125 @ f5.6

All comments and critiques greatly appreciated. Thanks

Great pose and comp. Too bad about the sky, but that's photography.

That is a serious look! Can't get enough of these birds. Nice shot, Alan. I'm having to get used to this kind of sky.

He looks angry!

"Are you looking at me?"

Nice shot. I like the vertical twig beside the owl--it and the horizontal perch frames the owl nicely.

You had no option on the sky.....and most that I've seen posted are the same due to the weather. You take what you get with the BG.....but oh what a nice bird to place it in. I love the look he's giving you. What an experience it must have been to see all those owls. Nice job!!

I like the composition, Alan. The body plumage looks a tad soft but this might just be because it's so fine. Well done!

Nicely captured.
I don't mind the white sky as it gives more emphasis and impact on the bird.
Great eye-contact and he does indeed look a little stern.

I like the look he is giving you but I'm not generally a fan of high key images. You work with what you are given though, right? A nice capture overall.
