Black Turnstone
La Jolla, CA

I shot this little guy on the rocks at the La Jolla shore last month. Tricky little guy with their erratic behavior and the waves! It was a blast. I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Matthew,

A nice one and you close with that 100-400.

Sweet shot.
We had trouble with these guys this past weekend, they are only still for a nano-second.

Matt,

Fastastic to get this close with a 100-400. Personally I'd prefer there be no shadow. Maybe flash would have eliminated it.
Enjoy viewing

Very nice Matthew. Too bad I missed you while you were here. Some lower angled light is the only thing that might improve this one.

Tried getting these guys today but there were litterally thousands of people among the rocks and they didn't cooperate. A very nice shot.

Attractive image. I didn't even notice the shadow until others pointed it out. The color and shape of the rocks and the blue water BG+the pose of the bird and the eye contact are all that I saw.
