Red-Breasted Sapsucker Eastern Sierra-Nevada Mountains.
D1X, 600, SB-800DX.

Not the best light as it was a bit harsh and to the side, also the head moved just out of focus so it's a bit soft, but I thought the behavior of the Sapsucker feeding at a sap well, might make up for the technical flaws, maybe! :)

Cool. Don't remember seeing this before. The colors are fine but it is a little contrasty for a Murphy. :D

Great behavior shot Alan--the bird's living up to his name. We saw lots of these in the Sierra's this June but got no quality photos.
