Took this one at lunch today. Actually post processed on the Lacie Monitor and burned a CD to post. Anyway, he was hanging out on the farthest perch he has so I had to crop it (never could have done this with the 1D). Finally got some sun so I could use a much lower iso. I think the focus may have missed the head slightly but I still like it.

MkII with 400 2.8 and 2x, car window support
AV, eval no comp.
iso 200

thanks for looking!

Very nice image, Dan. A tad more sharpening would be nice. If you had tracked him for another second, he would be separated from the trees -- one reason why taking flight shots in bursts appeals to many shooters (it is known as the Medici Method).

Sandy,

I do have a few more, the next one is wings up and a bit more separation. I use the Medici method on occasion especially for these guys.

Must be a big crop as there is still some grain for iso 200. The wings are great in this one Dan. Keep it up!

i like this one much better than the previous since it has a cleaner look to it. I love the red in the tail... my only nit is the softness already pointed out..
did you shoot at 5.6? maybe the softness is from using the 2x and maybe from camera shake.

Hi, Dan,

nice color, but seems soft on my monitor. Keep it up!

Funny,

I have been using my laptop all week except for this one and now that I look on my laptop it appears soft. It looked better on the Lacie - go figure - one of these days I will get this right :)

Beautiful light on this Redtail. The wing position is nice and the catchlight is too, just a little soft.

Dan this is beautiful. There is some grain. The little trick I offered you last week really will surprise you. It does seem LCDs are oddly sharper than CRTs. Anyway---love your shot.
