Canon 10 D 100-400

One of the better moments during a stop over in Churchill this past August to view the Beluga whales. This shot one of Karen's. :)

We had the pleasure to see two bears in the water during our whale tours. The boatman working with the Resources folks and was asked to gently float along side the bears for a while to swing them away from the Fort across the river.

On land these guys are know to be in "4 wheel drive all the time" well in the water they certainly hold their own as well. The bears swan for over three miles across the bay by the time we saw them go to shore in the distance.

Thanks for looking
Comments sugestions always welcome.

Doug, I like this kind of shot. The color and motion of the water is a marvelous setting for the bear! The details look great, I just wish he had turned toward the camera, but somehow, we can't always get animals to pose the way that we want.

Wonderful catch Karen!! I love the way the Bear has turned his head to give the eye contact in this shot. I can only imagine how cold that water must be even in Summer!! and it looks like its really motoring from the wave and wake. Those massive front paws must make pretty impressive paddles! 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Fantastic shot Karen. What an experience to see one swimming free. I must get my backside up that way one day...:)
