Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Travel and Culture Gallery, week ending 25th May, 2012!When I heard about the eclipse for May 20th I decided to go to a spot in New Mexico I knew would have the eclipse right before sunset and had some rock art. I had never done a eclipse photo and I knew my idea of rock art would require a wide angle lens which is probably the opposite of how most people would do it.

I made a variety of exposures during the event at various settings. I was able to cull these and blend them together. Yes, I know, the gap between them is not spaced right but I was pretty thrilled with the over all result nonetheless.

You can see the longer story of the trip and the shot on my blog

Terrific idea Darren -- I like this very much, especially the storm gods!!! Great story on your blog -- hearing the coyotes howl during the eclipse must be a very memorable experience indeed. Good luck at Yellowstone in 2017! 8)

Thanks Gary! It was a neat event and if nothing else, a great excuse to get into the field.

Certainly the most unique perspective and thought provoking image of the eclipse I've seen. Wonderful!
