While in Chicago's Botanic Gardens last evening, I spotted this fellow (I think it's a fellow - don't the females have a black chin?) in a nearby pine. Wondering where the rest of the flock was, I later happened upon them feeding on fruit in a grove of trees. I'll post some of those later. I've never really gotten a great photo of a bird, yet the cedar waxwings gave me an opportunity (they were so busy feeding they didn't mind me at all), finally....hope you enjoy. This is my first contribution to the bird forum - thanks for comments!

It would be easier to critique if you posted it at the maximum size allowed. Anyways, I think some fill flash would have helped here, and the angle is slightly steep. Besides that, pretty nice BG and great bird.

Chris, Welcome to NSN and thanks for posting with us. This is a nice shot showing the tail very well. The angle is a little steep and It could benefit from some fill flash.

If you could post the Techs and equipment used, we could give you a better critique.

Look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Yup, angle was steep, but I do enjoy that tail. . .and will use fill-flash next time, thanks! The photo was shot with a D70, 300mm f4 with a Kenko 1.4x teleconverter...ISO 200, RAW.

Chris,
I read up on them - seems they move about as a flock regularly in search of food and fun. I have been frequenting the gardens where I encountered them, but haven't seen them before - guess they were passing through, and I consider myself very fortunate!
