Willow Flycatcher Sunrise Valley Park, Reston, VA

Hi all,
Its been pretty quiet around here lately, so I was glad when I was able to catch a picture of a Willow Flycatcher on a clean perch in full song in early morning light.

Nikon D1.400mm 3.5,TC-301; 1/500 @f7, no flash.ISO 200.Cropped about 10%.

Comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Blake

Great shot, Blake! Nice in all regards. :D
I went to Sunrise Valley Park on Sunday, and I know how difficult it is to find a bird on a clean perch there. Things were a bit quiet probably because I was there around noon and it was overcast. I think I've found a place where a pair of goldfinches is nesting. I didnt get any clean shots due to the thick shrub. Maybe next time...

Blake, a very nice clean shot. The singing is wonderful as is the perch. The belly looks a tad hot and the angle a little steep. I think trimming some off the left and top would make a stronger comp IMO. Great shot.

Satie,

It's true that it's hard to find any good perches. The best time is in the early morning.

A bit steep, perch is nice and the singing is a big plus.

I love the sweet light and the singing pose with the blue bg. Too bad he was up so high.
