Taken just before sunset and I really liked the light here.

Neat Herring Gull, Ed. I wish for the bird to be moved left and for a crop just to the level of the light area below. Fill would have enhanced this image.

I echo Sandy' suggestions. The bill is a bit close on the right side and cropping out the legs would help. While not technically a shorebird, we'll take it for the motif. :) That eye is good and sharp.

The light here is beautiful and I love the sharpness in the eye. Sandy had some excellent suggestions for improving the composition.

The cut off leg bother me. You should take them out completely.

There isn't enough space on the right. I would crop the space on the left almost completely to balance that. The background is simple enough that you could extend the canvas on right.

I think it looks better with slightly less blue.
