Taken at the STL Black Bear workshop 2 weeks ago. I've been busy processing the images from this trip with the new release of C1 SE for Mac and Nikon, and so far I am impressed with the software and the quicker workflow. As for the trip, Chas has out done himself with this workshop, as not only did we get four days intimately observing wild bears and their natural behaviors, but there were many birds to fill in the slow times with the bears, as well as a nearby nesting loon. Having only photographed captive bears in the past, this was an experience that I will not soon forget. The behavior and interaction that we observed up close for four days was like being in the middle of an episode of "Wild Kingdom" (anybody remember that show?).

Good detail in the bear and the eye contact is great,, The claws also add
interest to the subject!

Nice shot with good detail in the face Brett, for my taste I would take some off the left to nearer the elbow, and wish for a little more room on top to clear the ear tip.

Brett, the color, detail and exposure are all wonderful. And, the claws add greatly to this image editorial significance. Perhaps, a bit tight as presented.

Way to go, see you back there in August

Best,

Chas

Unfortunately, the image has only been cropped from the right and a little off the bottom. The tight space above the ear was how I captured it -- but at least I didn't clip it!

Brett,

Well done if a little tight. Good detail and expression.

Great expression. I love the claws. My only nit being a bit tight on top.
