This captive raccoon was photographed several years ago, early a.m. as I recall. Unfortunately that's about all I can recall as far as lens, settings, etc. But I like the pic.
Thanks for viewing.

The low angle really helps this one. Nice pose too, is it fishing or trying to get to the other side ??

Great work.

I have always been very fond of seeing photos of animals in water or near water, for me somehow it gives the image that additional edge, which makes it more unusual. It also shows them in a very vulnerable and minding-their-own-business kind of way, which IMO make the photo more like a personal encounter.

Your image here of the racoon easily sums up what I just said above. I agree with Dave's comments that the low angle adds more impact, plus the light and the pose of the racoon really make the image work as a whole. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Dave,
As I recall he was crossing the stream, not fishing or "clamming."
Thanks for the inquiry and comments.

The light on the face is really nice. Some of the image seems a bit dark and difficult to see. Nice capture of animal behavior!

I also like what is happening in this image; think there may be more detail in the shadows on the side and tail.
