This little guy really surprised me when he landed on a perch I had made for winter birds at the edge of my deck. Not only that, he returns to the perch many times a day and seems to be keeping a lookout from there. Unfortunately, it's been very overcast and I've not caught him in good light yet. Hopefully he'll stay around.

Thanks for looking and all comments appreciated.

Converted from RAW, but still could not control the perch overexposure.

 WOW! That is one awesome shot! The orange and green are perfect together and the detail is fantastic. Ther perch is a bit hot, but it just doesn't matter. Fantastic.

Chris, you might find that he will only land there in over cast light. Ruby-Throated Hummers like to sit out of the sun. This light was also perfect to light up the gorget, which is awesome. The Bg is killer too. The hot spot on the perch is worthy of a burn.

Nicely done, looks like the stick is just a bit hot.

Gorgeous bird and BG. The hot spots on the perch are definitely worth working with. I'd stay with this guy as you'll have many opportunities.

Awesome image, Chris!! I love all of the colors here. The nit, as mentioned, will be an easy fix. 8)

Perch issues aside, this is a wonderful shot, and overcast skies can bring all the wonderful iridescence if kissed by a touch of fill flash!! Lovely!!
Congrats!! 8)

Chris, beautiful bird but the perch requires darkening. The gorget is gorgeous.

Beautifully done. If he continues to like that spot, I'd consider replacing the perch with something thinner and without hot areas.

I think the soft light on this bird is perfect. The gorget is fascinating to study. I like Mike's idea of putting up a darker perch.

awesome!
It's a good thing that you have the overcast light to avoid harsh shadows... gives it a nice catchlight as well.
Beautiful colors and great comp :D
