Banded dotterel (Charadrius bicinctus), Miranda, New Zealand
A bit of a boring shot of what I am pretty sure is a juvenile banded dotterel. If anyone can either confirm the ID or tell me it is something more interesting (to me), like a Mongolian, I'd love to hear.
It wandered through a flock of wrybill I was shooting, and being unsure of what it was I grabbed some record shots. Backlit in fading light, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the images.

techs not at hand but probably EOS100, 300/2.8, 2xII, 550EX

Neil, A very nice shot with a great low angle. Maybe a tad more from the flash.

Certainly not boring Neil! Very nice shot and what a wonderful expression you've captured here! I will leave the ID to the experts. 8) :)

Nice shot, Neil. Perhaps a slightly bluish cast.

Very nice! Definitely a blue cast to it but a bit of levels/curves should really make it pop. Nicely composed and a great BG.

Nice little bird. I see the blue too and can't help with the ID, don't have any experience with Dotterels and Sibley's only shows the Mongolian Plover which looks very similar.
