This is one of my first images taken with my newly acquired 400/5.6 lens. So far I'm very happy with the lens. I know that I have to work on my bird and long lens techniques some, but I had a blast with this guy in my backyard last week.

Sweet image and lucky you. These birds don't stay still for more than a few seconds, here in Ontario.

Love the pose and the light is quite nice. The OOF white tree in the BG is a bit distracting for me. Nice RB!

Todd,

Very nice image. Your going to love that lens.

A bit of fill flash might have helped tone down the showdow across the RBW's neck. A very sweet capture otherwise.

Nice image and agree that fill flash would have been very useful to eliminate the shadows.

Nice shot in sweet light Todd, fill flash would have helped the shadows but from the sound of it you may well see this guy again and have the chance for more images. :)

Todd, glad to see your enjoying your new toy. This is a nice shot. That's more red on his breast than I'm used to seeing.
