Thanks to all for the wonderful advice that you gave me prior to my trip to Tanzania. The suggestions were right on. I suppose that one must post a compulsory Lion shot after such a trip. This was photographed in the Serengeti along a river bank about one-hour from Kusini Camp. The light was even but not direct and a light rain didn't help either.

More to come for the trip of my life!

Good light,

Bill

Love that stare he's giving you. Looking forward to more

Excellent. The light is wonderful IMHO. I would be happy with this over bright sun any day. Love the upward curious look in his eyes.. Thanks for sharing..

A Lion shot isn't compulsory Bill!! but when its this good it deserves to be shared! Excellent detail, and those eyes are mesmerizing! 8) :)

Man look at that intense stare! Did one of those tips include dangling a mouse from your lens? :)

Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing it.

Actually I surprised my guide by opening the door of the Landcruiser to get a lower shot. The Lion responded immediately. I did close the door quickly though. :)

Bill,
The eyes have it! They draw you to the lion like a magnet.

This is excellent, Bill -- I really like the stare, but especially like the really low angle of view, which is tough to get on safari. Pretty sporty opening the door with this guy so close by.
