Hello NatureScapers:

Jimmy G may have already presented this curious sea otter, who decided to make a swim by the group during a recent Shoot the Light workshop with Chas in Homer. A few of us made a couple of grab shots as he/she went by. ....I am woefully behind on file management and was working on this today.. :?

They are delightful creatures and on several occasions during the workshop we saw them out in the water while we were photographing eagles on the beach, but this was the closest opportunity of the week.

Thanks for looking and for any comments and/or suggestions..

Way to get him looking right at you Dennis. Mine look alot like a black blob. I guess that will teach me to take the 600 where ever I go. Nice Job!

Well done Dennis. this is better than any I got with the 100-400. Nice detail in the whiskers and the eye.

Dennis, you did a fine job of keeping the otter natural in tone. Many would have opted to make it lighter and less realistic in appearance. I noticed from my balcony, that on days with high wind we had many cruising close to the beach.

Best,

Very nicely composed, love the "expression" on its face and especially the whiskers. :)

Beautiful capture Dennis! I love these animals and the way they float around cracking the shells on their tummies with rocks!

Excellent shot! 8) 8) :)

Great shot here, Dennis -- amazing sharpness, exposure, and composition for what you term a grab shot. It was nice meeting you in Homer and putting a face to the name (and great helpful posts!)

Nice shot! I like the close crop and the details, particularly on the eye and wiskers with the water drops. I also like the more natural dark colors. I have seen too many shots of these animals that were so lightened up that they didn't look natural.
