Well, it has "Cat" in the title anyway. :)

I'm not under the misconception that this is a particularly great photo, but once in a very great while the wildlife comes to you (as opposed to you seeking out the wildlife), and this was one such time...

One day this otter brought one very large catfish it had caught up to the shore of the little lake behind my house, and proceeded to have a feast. How very convenient for me, the photographer!

luck and skill were sure with you that day. beautifully composed and exposure is right on. love the action/catch. yes I wish the one stick was not there but everything else overpowers that minor nit. great shot.

Wow, what an encounter. And well done for being prepared.

It's a lovely shot, tack sharp and nice blue BG.

Noel,

I love it. What a fun thing to see and have the opportunity to photograph. I agree the small stick is a very minor nit but well overpowered by the rest of a very strong image. Thanks for sharing.

I'd be darn happy with that shot! Anytime you get a predator with its prey, you're having a great day.

Lots of impact! Great action, sharp, and exposure on the money. Also, good composition and the blue water background is another plus. Noel, looks like your "cat" is/was about to have kittens.

As challenging as I know that it can be to capture a good image of an otter, let alone with a catch like this, I would not dare quibble with your composition. It's clear that it's an otter and a catfish and that, by itself, is enviable. Congratulations!

Now, I have to go off and sit on a frozen lake waiting for my otter to appear out of a hole in the ice, hoping I don't don't break through the ice, get frostbite...

Some guys have all the luck!
