Masai Mara, Kenya, Nikon F100, 500mm f4P, sunny 16 exposure, Velvia, Beanbag support.
This was one of a series of lions at the waterhole in the Mara. I was trying to pan while shooting vertical. There was only one quick opportunity when this one walked across a clearing in the water lettuce. In trying to keep the Lion and reflection in the frame it looks like I clipped the tail. Someday I will unmount that slide and see for sure. This is a really old scan. I desaturated the blue a notch because it looks unreal on the Velvia and original file. I'd always thought this was a lioness but some astute viewers have told me it may be a young male. Steve Sage
