With all the new tools out there, what program (that works on MAC) has yielded you the best result when resizing your images to 13x19 or larger for sending to outside printhouse.

PS CS 3? lightroom? or a third party program like genuine fractles?

I have some prints that need to be sent to outside print house (MPIX) and before I use trial and error method, I'd be curious to what most of you are using...

Bicubic Smoother in PS is something you already have and does as good of a job as the add-ins for 99% of the situations.

This article is very helpful even it only covers CS2 http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/inte ... lation.htm .

A new player the article didn't cover is Alien Skin's Blowup http://www.alienskin.com/blowup/index.html , from my preliminary test, Blowup seems as good as genuine fractles.

Qimage does a great job...I beleive its crossover for Mac OSx.
Just save to file instead of print.

Qimage is Windows only, but if you have Parallels or similar on the Mac then you could use it. I use Qimage for all my large printing work. As Ken says you can set it to save to a file, generating an enlarged TIFF to send out for printing.

Here are some previous notes (which contain even more links) about using Qimage and other large printing things such as output stage sharpening:

Alien Skin BlowUp is worth a look - you can at least download the demo and print with it to see if it gives you what you want. For the longest time, I also believed I could do just as good with PS Bicublic Smoother and perhaps other sharpening afterward. That belief ended when I did a side by side comparison printing sections of a 24x36 print.

Just started using Qimage studio yesterday with my B9180. It's a fantastic piece of software.

I've compared CS3 and Alien Skin Blow Up and feel that Blow Up does a visibly better job, especially with extreme uprezzing (like 200-300%).

Cheers!
