The EOS Digital Rebel (The 300D name is not used in the US according to Canon Press releases) is an entry level 6MPx DSLR. Some features are 2.5 Frames per second, DIGIC processor, 35 zone eval meter, CMOS sensor with 1.6x crop factor, 7 AF sensors. Street price is expected to be under $900 and it is expected to be available within 30 days! Specs can be found here:
http://213.247.48.188/frames.asp

The US Press Release is here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/templatedata/p ... rebel.html

Canon also announced two new budget priced zoom lenses - the 18-55 f/3.5-5.6, and the 55-200 f/4.5-5.6.

Thank you E.J. for posting the specifics. I was a little rushed this morning when I first stumbled on the link. (From a Nikon mailing list, no less.)

Good for the standard photographers. I really hoped for them this would become true. Still I'm not sure how many will buy a Eos 1 prized dslr of these people.

Also I like the complete package with the 2 lenses.

BUT, I had hoped for the 1Dx or 3D..... How long do I have to wait in pain..

I can't believe it supports the RC1 :(
I've wished for this on my D30 and my 10D....

I think this camera will make the G3, G5 drop down in price. . This new DSLR will do good in portraits, macro, and still photography, since you don't need a fast frame per sec. speeds. Would I buy? probably not.

Thanks for posting this E.J, looks like a great camera. I love my 10d but i do like the infrared remote feature. No way to do infrared with a 10d or is there?
