Hi y'all, :)

I just bought ink cartridges for my Epson R1800 printer and I am just shocked at the price...$350.00. Ink prices are just getting rediculous. Has anyone here had any experience using bulk ink systems for the R1800? How are the prints?

Thanks, :)

$350.!!! Yikes!
Look at B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/3 ... e_Set.html
You can get the whole replacement set for less than $100.

Thanks, Jason. I have a big print order to fill so I bought 2 or 3 cartridges for each color. Each cartridge cost me $14.99 and I think (I'm not real sure) there is 20 ml of ink in each cartridge. I've looked at just the Lyson system, so far, and 4 oz bottles of pigmented ink only run $22.95. This is a huge savings in ink. I just need to know things like, "Do the inks clog the printer head?" Or, "Do I need to create a custom printer profile?"

Any advice anyone can give me will be most appreciated.

Not to derail your thread, but in the meantime until you go to a bulk system, go to atlex.com, 10.99 a cartridge for the 1800, it will at least save you a few bucks. I order all my inks there, and they are super fast on fulfulling orders too.

I use the Inkrepublic system on my 1800. It's been good so far, you have to calibrate it to your paper, although I've found it pretty close to Epson's ink shades. There is a lot of discussion of bulk ink systems in the printer forums at dpreview.com, I suggest you do a search in that forum because there are a lot of bulk ink systems out. It took me a while to sort through it all and decide. InkRepublic has a very good support system also, they got back to me right away when I had a question and I've heard others had very good support also. Good Luck.
