Canon D30, 100-400mm@180mm, 1/4 sec, f16, ISO 100 tripod

Several people mentioned wanting to see more of the wings on my previous posts. As I back off from the close up I don't think this is a good qualifier for the motif of fuzz. At some unknown point it is no longer a macro image either. In any case here is another in the series. If I kept posting images from this session I could probably keep it up for a few weeks.

This is great. I don't see how they can fly with that large body. Lovely colors.
Thanks for posting,

Fabulous specimen, lovely picture. What an opportunity!

Nevermind whether it's "macro" or not. I'm not a great believer in the "if it isn't 1:1 or closer it isn't macro" school. My 300mm says "macro" on it, and it's probably 1:2 or 1:3 at minimum focus. To me it's all just closeup photography.

What a fantastic specimen, beautifully presented. Please keep posting these beauties whether technically macro or not.
