I always feel the last few minutes before sunset are magical and I feel a bit of panic if I don't have anything with feathers in my viewfinder... :D This was photographed last August at Cherry Hill beach here in Nova Scotia. I'm not 100% certain whether this is a Greater or Lesser Yellowlegs - I'd appreciate input if anyone knows for sure.

Eos10D, 600+1.4x, ISO200, 1/400@f7.1, Full Frame, Face-down in the muck.

cheers, Oliver

Oliver,

This is wonderful. The colors are great and the eye is very captivating. :D

Wonderful intimate shot Marc. The head looks slightly over sharpened to me.

Nice light and good composition.

The feel to this is very intimate.

It,s a wading bird with a long beak!!, That much I know!!

Image:
Wonderful pose, lovely drop on the beak, nice detail and slightly over exposure wise, but not too bad, nice ripples below his beak!!, Congrats!! 8)

Sweet shot, Marc. Nice drop of water. I prefer the second image.

Very nice. I like the second version. Vey minor nit is the bright part of the reflection just above the "©2" in your statement.

#2 is better. I like the focus of the bird on the water and the light. A bit more DOF to get the tail would be nice but it doesn't hurt this image.

Great shot

I also prefer the 2nd. I think the cap of it's head can have a slight more sharpening. (in the shady area)

Cheers

Very nice shot in sweet light. I love the look of concentration and the fact that it seems totally unaware of your presence. 8) :)

I like the second post better. I like the intense look that he's giving the water....dinner is at hand. Nice job!

They are both nice images, IMHO. The bill appears too long, in relation to the head, for a Lesser; but it lacks the slight 'turn-up' of the Greater. :?:
