Glad I found a tree where they hang out at Parque Central, in San Juan.
I hope the twig across the bird is not too distracting, as it would be a pain to clone out (the bird will fall down if I do it :D !).

Here's the modified (as suggested) image: cloned out bright twig, lightened a little, some selective sharpening.

Thank you (all) for your comments and suggestions. The picture looks much better (at least to me). :?: :?:

Nice shot and a colorful subject! :) The twig the bird is sitting on doesn't bother me; I would however, tone down the glare/reflection on the twig right over the head.
A touch more USM would also help to liven things up. Without seeing the full-sized image I can't be sure, but I suspect your lens may be showing its limitations. I used to own Canon's 75-300, and in my experience that lens isn't quite sharp when shot wide open - since the 300D/10D cameras have such good/low noise characteristics you might try to stop down to f8.0 and setting the ISO to 800 to compensate.

cheers, Oliver

Edit: I just read Alan's reply, the lens's sharpness will improve by stopping down, but if you have an extra flash unit and tripod, definately try that first.

IMO, the twig is a minor distraction but the bird is really pretty. Sometimes a step or two left or right changes the perspective enough to eliminate the twigs. Sometimes not.

Still, a pretty nice image. :)

Jose, this is a better view than the last post of this bird. You might think about shooting from a tripod and adding some fill flash to these canopy birds. nice shot.

Perch/twig does not bother me in the least ... aside from some fill I find the image pleasing.

A gorgeous bird. In a perfect world there would be no branch in front of the bird but I still like this photo a lot
