Northern Mockingbird South Texas
D1x, 600/4, ISO 200, -1.0EV.

Shooting digital allowed me to see right away, that I got the shot when the Mockingbird raised his tail. This is another image from my first digital shoot.

Nice one Alan - you seem to have made the transition to the digital world pretty quickly. Love the perch :).

My first reaction is "What an astounding perch!" The bird is nicely enhanced by the lines of the perch. Looks really good on my Mac monitor.

Very nice! I like the one yellow/orange flower that is focus as it tells us what the OOF spots are. They seem to fit better in the image knowing what they are. Love the perch!

I gotta know it this a perch of your making or natural? Irregardless, you should hold a few workshops on just perch making -- I'd sign up.

This is wonderful.

Wonderful image, but you would have gotten the tail on film too. Love the healthy prickly pear, but unlike Allen, I'd like it better without the foreground flowers. While there's much to be said for tying together the foreground and background, as Allen says, seems like "perch overload" to me (though not to photo editors! ) I do like the OOF background flowers.

This is quite a stunning shot. The composition is perfect, IMO. :D

Very cool - love the body position of the bird and the perch. Perhaps a third stop hot.

I love this one. The pose with tail up and the prickly cactus are excellent. There's a mockingbird at school that I call the "Walmart greeter" as he is there every morning when I come in. However, have a camera in hand and he hits the road...must be in the witness protection program.
