Shooting a cooperative Pileated. I added my 1.4x after getting full body images, but my flash ran out of juice. I got 2 sharp images and thanks to shooting RAW and PS I was able to save these. Cropped from the right frame 20%. The vertical dimension is full frame. I like this because his tongue motion is evident. Wish I was aimed more to the left for this one,but the other portrait has his head away from the tree.

10D, 600IS, 1.4x, ISO 400, EV-2 because I was attempting to use flash as main but it never fired.

I'm a "digiscoper", way out of my league here, but am sure enjoying awesome photography from you talented folks....bob

Very nice closeup. I think you have enough negative space frame right. The tongue and the very slight motion blur are a plus.

Awesome. I love the motion blur of the tongue. I'd love to see the tip of that toe- or not at all but this is just great as is.

This one is excellent. Not only is it a wonderful closeup but with the tongue action, it's over the top. This is probably the coolest Pileated shot that I've seen.
