Red Crested Pochard

EOS300D, Sigma 100-300 F4, ISO 400, 1/160 @ F8 - 1 , Flash -2/3

One of my all time favourite Ducks! This gorgeous little guy was busy preening and fluffing in the water but he stopped to pose prettily for the camera as soon as he knew his picture was being taken!!

All comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking.

Carol,

This is really sweet. I wish I had a head of hair like that! A little tight on the left side for me. Other then that, this is a beautiful duck and nice capture.

Love that smiling face and the shadow works well here by not being obtrusive but rather adding to the image.

RCP's are very handsome birds when they get into their peak plumage like this one is. A lower shooting angle would improve the photo significantly in my opinion.

Nice shot. Like the slight headturn. A little smaller in the frame and a lower angle would help this nice image.

This is a lovely shot -- fine as it is.

The angle calls attention to the most colorful part of the body plus the swirls and color in the water adds to this. Congrats.

Gorgeous duck!! I love the head position. I agree that it's a little tight on the left but most excellent as is. :)

A lower angle and more room all around (or a tighter crop) would be my preference, but still a very nice photo and a great bird!

Carol,

This is very nice. The colors, exposure, and sharpness all look great. Looks like the new camera is working out well for you.

On top of what's already been said here I think you've captured the beauty of this species extremely well. Everything about this is very pretty. :)

I love that duck, Carol. A little more room and a lower angle would be ideal.

As others have said....a little lower with a little more room. However, this is gorgeous. Wonderful detail, colors, and a darling pose.
