Grea shot, but is it an American Kestrel or Sparrowhawk? Looks very different to the Sparrowhawks we have here.

Given the face markings and overall shape of the bird it looks more like it's in the falcon family (eg. kestrels and falcons).

Kestrel is a type of Falcon. This is an very nice shot.

EJ I know a Kestrel is in the family Falconidae. However the title of this image when you click from the birds section is "Sparrowhawk". That is why I was questioning it.

Edit: I apologise for my ignorance. Just looked up info and found out that the common name is "Sparrow hawk" :oops:
