What a lovely bird! Sweet pose and good details! :) I think it can benefit from a bit more contrast.

Cracking image Chris. Love the eyes.

Not sure if this feels slightly oversharpened ?

Terrific shot! Most of the Hawk Owls I was able to get were posed on top of telephone poles or other equally attractive perches. Very nice!

Hey Chris,

I think I recognize that bird!

Someone asked me yesterday if I thought there'd be a repeat owl invasion this winter. I replied that there almost certainly wouldn't be, although it's possible there might be a slight "echo" effect with the Great Grays, since there were a lot more breeders this year than there would have been in a normal year.

Mike,

I'd concur. Chances are minimal that there will be another year anywhere near similiar for potentially decades. The "cycle" is about once every four years, but last year was the largest invasion ever recorded in Minnesota, and records go back over 100 years.
