Lesser Yellowlegs, (Tringa flavipes), Iona Sewage plant near Vancouver, BC, Canada, Aug 2005, 1dmk2, 500, tripod, crop:6.8MP of 8.2MP

No way I can compete with all the yellowlegs on NSN, that's why I chose for a frame where the bird is small in the frame.

I chose not to crop it further because I kind of like the empty space here, making it a peaceful image. If you don't agree, please reply with comments.

ANY comments are welcome.

Cheers

I think there is a bit too much empty space on the top but I like the concept.

This comp works for me as the light hitting the yellowlegs pulls you right into the image, Peter.

Sharp and well exposed, Peter
Would have more space in front of where the bird is looking instead ...

It's looking at me. What do you exactly mean KK? The crop is more or less centered, so somewhat room on all sides. Having the bird more to the right makes it less attractive.

Thanks

I like the dark mud. I think the neg space would work better in a horizontal format.

Nice idea, it works. Those yellow legs really stand out from the rest of the image. I would crop some of the OOF area off the bottom and a bit off the top to just below the light band. I think it would still maintain the feel of the original crop.

Great shot! I agree about cropping more. I think I would crop just a little off the bottom like Mike suggests, and about an inch off the top.
