Crested Lark - Galerida cristata

After an un-lucky day without catching even one descent shot of any bird,
this lark was sitted on the wired fence on my way out of the field, the light
was perfect afternoon light and the background was very good.
I liked how the nails shape combines with the fence, I hope you will like it.

Eqp. EOS 20D, 100-400L IS, Kenko x1.4 TC.

F9.0, 1/250, ISO 400, 462mm

All my birds' pictures were taken in nature.

This is one of those times were a wire fench works so well with the image. Love the warm tones of the sweet light. The long claws look like the barbs on the wire, and the crest up puts it over the top. An excellent shot Elroyie.

Perfect shot. Looks alot like our horned lark especially the longer nails.

Nice shot Elroyie. Crisp sharp, good light and colors, sweet pose and BG. The perch is fine with me.

This is a great shot - I am not generally in favour of wire perches, but this one works.

Can't see why anyone would mind a barbed-wire perch...for many grassland birds, it is a very common and natural perch. In any case, it really works well here--I love the look. Wonderful light, and the crest just takes it over the top.

Wow, love that crest and the alert expression. I would crop this one to a vertical as well, both are good choices with this bg.
