I haven't been too lucky with the returning shorebirds here in Vancouver recently, so I thought I'd show this one from the Salton Sea in late April this year. The light may appear slightly harsh, but it was only 8:45am. This bird was chasing sandflies.

1D2, 500mm +1.4X, 1/1600 @ f9, ISO 200, -2/3EV, Sidekick, cropped for composition

Thanks for looking, and do let me have your thoughts.

The light does look a bit harsh, but the pose is very cool, and not something you see every day.

Good to see your image here!
The light looks good actually. What an unusual pose you captured, Kwan!
Would shave a little off the bottom and both sides to balance ...

The light may be harsh, but the pose is a winner.

Many thanks!

My original crop is a much tighter one making the subject larger in the frame. However, I thought that since this is a small bird, I'd expand the image a little! As in reading a putt, one should go with one's first look!

Killer pose and the plumage rocks. Cropping from the bottom would help this one for sure.
