Cormorant Wing Flare

La Jolla, California. 05-01-19, 8:30 AM. Mark 2, 500 f4, 1325 Gitzo, Wimberley, 1/4000th sec., f4, Mode AV, ISO 640, +1/2.

I finally got one with its feet clear of its tail and its head up. No, the light angle did not line up perfectly with the wind direction, but its the best I have to date. Not sure if it is a pelagic or a Brant's.

Your timing couldn't be better ... An awesome pose, Steve!
The blue sky/water(?) bg is particularly nice too.
Adding some fill might have opened up the dark areas ...

Very nice. You might try just a littel Shadow/Highlight Tool to bring out some detail in the dark areas

The dark areas have been mentioned. I really love the spread out pose, here. Great job on getting the eye in focus.

Killer shot Steve! Great to see you posting more of your excellent work here my friend. Your bird is a Brandt's Cormorant. Love those flared primaries.
