There are a number of Gallinule chicks, who are quite colorful, to be found at Wako this summer and are quite active when feeding. This image was captured by shooting thru the lowest opening in the boardwalk railing.

Thanks for looking.

Hugh...this is awesome....hopefully no one stepped all over you on the boardwalk...especially the 100 year old power walkers....

I like the way he's just starting to get the purple colors. I'm not quite sure about the crop - I think I'd prefer a bit more room at the right and/or bottom. Or maybe less at the right.

Nice angle for Wako - worth tripping up a few power-walkers for!

Nice one Hugh. I think I shot the same little guy. Like the fact that you got down on the board walk and shot low; much better angle. I should have done that. Opted for 1000mm and shot long thereby decreasing the angle that way. Still have not culled those shots and posted any except for a Ibis.

Great capture here and your right, there coloration is very attractive even as chicks.

Hugh, I like the coloration he's developing. You did well to shoot at a low angle at Wako. Wish you had a bit more room below.

Jim
